Buzz’s Web

In late July of 2007 I quit my comfortable life in the UK and headed off to sea. I had been lucky enough to land a position as dive master on what is considered to be one of the top 10 liveaboard dive boats in the world. The Nautilus Explorer is 116’ purpose built divers dream. Its home port is in Steveston, Vancouver Canada. Not all of the year is spent up North. The Nautilus dives in British Columbia, Alaska, Gaudalupe Island and the Revilagigedos Islands. We get to see whales, manta, sharks, and a whole bunch of awesome marine and terrestrial life.

Being a dive master on the Nautilus does not just mean diving, I always spend some time doing engineering duties and when appropriate spend time on the bridge. An average day is at least 16 hours, we spend up to 12 days at sea and there are times when I won’t set foot on land for over a month. This is not just a job it’s a life. Rain or shine, healthy or sick the crew are there to keep our guests (up to 24) happy and safe.

In addition to this web page which I’ll keep updated with new pictures from time to time, there is also my blog which I really will try and keep updated. Of course being out at sea and surrounded by guests will make that tricky, but, I will do my best.
